Notes for Registered Participants

Attendee check-in

All attendees should check in at the conference registration table located in the Hotel at Oberlin lobby (10 E. College St.) before attending their first session. The conference desk will be open at the following times:

  • Wednesday, November 15, 1 p.m.–7 p.m.

  • Thursday, November 16, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Friday, November 17, 8 a.m.–9:30 a.m.

 

Your conference name badge will be used for entrance into the daily sessions.  The Friday morning and evening talks are open to the public with no advance registration required. 

 

Meals

Your registration at the conference includes an opening reception on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. and continental breakfast and lunch on Thursday and Friday, all at the hotel. Dinners are on your own and offer a chance for small group gatherings and informal conversation. Please see this page for a list of nearby restaurants in Oberlin.

 

Transportation and Parking

From the Cleveland Airport:

  • Shuttle to Oberlin: A shuttle from Cleveland Hopkins airport to Oberlin will be available on Wednesday afternoon, November 15. The shuttle will run every other hour during the afternoon, departing the airport at:

    • 11:30 a.m.

    • 1:30 p.m.

    • 3:30 p.m. 

    • 5:30 p.m.

from outside door #6 on the ticketing/departures level

  • For Doubletree Hilton guests: A free hotel shuttle is available, but needs to be reserved in advance. Please call the Doubletree at 440-871-6000 to reserve a ride. 

  • For guests staying at the Hyatt Place or other lodging: taxis, Uber, and Lyft all operate from the airport.

 

During the Conference:

We will provide free shuttle service to the Hotel at Oberlin for those staying at either the Hyatt Place and Doubletree hotels in Westlake. Vans will leave the hotels in time for the opening morning sessions and return after the concluding evening sessions. Please see schedules posted at the hotels for specific times.

 

If you are driving, the Hotel parking lot, located behind the hotel, will be available for your use.

Recording

We will be recording the conference for archival purposes only and at this time do not plan to live stream or rebroadcast the footage. Speakers have been assured these are “off the record” conversations and we ask that you please respect this. 

 

Program

There have been a few adjustments to the program, including the addition of a media panel on Friday and a lunchtime session on Friday as well. Please see the Program page for the latest schedule, and continue to refer to it for any further updates.

 

Participation

We have structured this gathering to allow maximum participation between speakers and audience. Speakers will keep their talks relatively brief to allow ample room for discussion. We encourage you to come prepared to work and engage with the ideas and fellow attendees. This is just the start of what we hope will be a long and productive conversation.
